Manchester United will lose Casemiro this summer and are planning to sign two midfielders, with a number of options already in the Premier League, including Wolves’ Brazil international

Joao Gomes is being eyed by Manchester United as Old Trafford bosses plot an overhaul of their midfield this summer.
The Brazilian international, 25, is expected to leave Wolves this summer with Wanderers set to be relegated to the Championship. Signed from Brazilian side Flamengo in January 2023, he has been integral to recent improved displays from Rob Edwards’ side, impressing in the wins over Aston Villa and Liverpool, while also finding the net in the former.
A number of Premier League sides are keeping tabs on Gomes, and United are among those monitoring his situation. Gomes is keen to further his international credentials by staying in the Premier League.
Thus, despite signing a new Wolves contract last April, he is almost certain to move on this summer and will be available for transfer if the price is right. If he heads to Old Trafford, he will reunite with close pal Matheus Cunha, who made the move from Wolves to United last summer.
United are in the market for two midfielders, with Casemiro leaving when his contract expires, and Manuel Ugarte set to be sold, having struggled to make an impact since his move from Paris Saint-Germain.
Elliot Anderson is high on United’s shortlist too, but the 23-year-old England ace is also wanted by Manchester City. United retain an interest in Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba, despite his form falling away this season, Adam Wharton is another whom they’ve watched and so too is Alex Scott of Bournemouth. Ineos are keen on adding to the midfield players with Premier League experience.
As such, Sandro Tonali is also on United’s radar. Newcastle’s struggles this term and their likely absence from next season’s Champions League could see the Italian push for an exit. United are on alert if that comes to fruition.
Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes has also been linked with a move, while Real Madrid have also been mentioned as potential suitors for the 28-year-old Brazilian.
