The newly released trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day shows the interior of Dorchester Prison, which a film crew descended upon back in November 2025.
Movie fans in Dorset were quick to notice the familiar prison, which has now been used in numerous productions, making a brief but unmistakable cameo in the trailer for the upcoming Marvel‑Sony blockbuster.
The glimpse of the abandoned jail in the trailer shows the central atrium looking towards the former B-Wing.
Excitement was in the air when Hollywood came to Dorchester last November, with production vehicles, filming signs and technical crews seen setting up around the site as the prison was temporarily transformed.

Scenes for the film were also shot in another unlikely location – the Hampshire town of Basingstoke.
The new film, due to be released on July 31, has attracted much attention with more than 1.5 million worldwide views of the trailer racked up on YouTube within hours of its release.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the movie sees Tom Holland return as Spider-Man, with the plot following a world that no longer remembers Peter Parker’s identity and a new wave of criminal threats emerging across New York. The cast includes Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Sadie Sink and Mark Ruffalo.
Dorchester Prison, which opened in the 19th century and closed in 2014, has increasingly become a sought‑after filming location thanks to its untouched Victorian architecture and atmospheric cell blocks.
The site is also used for guided tours and ghost tours.

The former adult male prison has appeared in several productions such as the Luther movie on Netflix and BBC’s The Gold and offers film crews an authentic, unchanged interior.
ITV drama A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story, which followed the life of Britain’s last woman to hang, was also partly-shot in the prison.
Its latest cameo marks another moment in Dorset’s growing screen presence, with west Dorset recently appearing in the form of The Cobb at Lyme Regis in both the Willy Wonka Movie and Netflix’s version of Jane Austen’s Persuasion.
Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan also came to west Dorset to film scenes from Ammonite, which was inspired by Mary Anning’s life story, and the characters from Netflix teen hit Heartstoppercalled into Lyme Regis to film scenes for its latest series.
