Will be very hard vs top teams without them
People are complaining about Liverpool’s disallowed goal yesterday. English media/fans (Liverpool fans chief among them) brought it on themselves by constantly whining about Arsenal’s set piece efficiency. Now, every corner with action in the six yard box will be scrutinized to death. Something similar happened in the last second of the the first leg of our match against Leverkusen. Havertz got a yellow card for just standing there and then there was a whistle for absolutely nothing when there was a great chance to score a vital goal. This type of scrutiny of set pieces will disproportionately impact PL teams and it can also impact England in the World Cup. English media and fans made it harder for their teams to win stuff internationally just to spite Arsenal. Well played.
I don’t know if this has been mentioned anywhere else yet, but over the past two seasons we’ve spanked all of the remaining teams in the CL apart from Liverpool (somehow) and Barca (haven’t played them):
Sporting 5-1
Atleti 4-0
Bayern 3-1
Real Madrid 3-0 (5-1 aggregate)
PSG 2-0
