Nottingham Forest have sorely missed Chris Wood this season, with the talisman missing since October through injury.
The New Zealand striker scored 20 goals in the Premier League last season, and his absence in 2025/26 has led to Forest being embroiled in a relegation battle.
Wood had been spotted in training recently, and ahead of Thursday’s second leg clash with FC Midtjylland, another update appears to have come to light.
When Nottingham Forest could have Chris Wood back
With Forest not due back in action until April after Sunday’s game against Tottenham, Wood will have plenty of time to completely recover from his injury.
However, Forest fans might have to wait a couple of games, with the Daily Mail claiming that the match against Sunderland could be when he returns at the end of April.
That means Wood would play in the final five matches of the season, with the trip to Sunderland followed by away games against Chelsea and Manchester United and home games with Newcastle and Bournemouth.
Having missed so much football, it’s hard to think that Wood can come in and immediately hit the ground running, but just his presence on the pitch could prove most helpful.
Forest have been among the worst goal scorers in the Premier League this season, and even if Wood can come in and bag five goals, they could go a long way towards survival in 2025/26.
Wood has been nursing a troublesome knee problem, and that in itself means that things shouldn’t be rushed.
Vitor Pereira is desperate for some wins to lift the spirits at Forest, however, and the hope will be that Wood can give everyone a lift inside the dressing room and help the Reds kick on in the final stages of the campaign.
