Liverpool’s bid to secure a place in next season’s Champions League took a major dent after the Reds were held to a 1-1 draw against relegation-threatened Tottenham on Sunday.

Dominik Szoboszlai had put the Reds in front with a sensational first-half free-kick. However, Arne Slot’s side were not able to hold on as Spurs scored late on through a late Richarlison equaliser.

Although the result has moved Liverpool up to fifth in the Premier League table – one point above sixth-place Chelsea – they did miss the chance to leapfrog Aston Villa in fourth.

But the Reds do face some favourable fixtures across their next four as they look to cement a place in Europe’s elite competition before heading to top-four rivals Manchester United in May.
