Nottingham Forest will be aiming to snap a six-match winless run in the Premier League and give their survival hopes a major boost when they welcome Fulham to the City Ground on Sunday.

Vitor Pereira’s side did claim a credible draw at Manchester City in their last league fixture and they will be facing a Fulham team still smarting from their disappointing FA Cup exit at the hands of Southampton.

Nottingham Forest vs Fulham preview

Nottingham Forest are on their fourth head coach of the season and their new-manager bounce under Vitor Pereira did not last long as they have lost four of their last five games, including Thursday’s Europa League defeat to Midtjylland.

That 1-0 loss at the City Ground means Forest have work to do in next week’s return leg, but they cannot afford to take their eye off the ball in the Premier League relegation battle either.

The Tricky Trees have lost two of their last three league fixtures but they did show plenty of spirit in their most recent top-flight contest, twice coming from behind to earn a 2-2 draw at title-chasing Manchester City.

That was an impressive effort, but scoring goals remains an issue, particularly at the City Ground, where they have drawn a blank in four of their last five league fixtures.

Forest have scored only 28 goals in 29 top-flight games this season – only bottom club Wolves have a worse record.

Finding the back of the net has also become an issue for Fulham, who have suffered back-to-back 1-0 defeats to Forest’s relegation rivals West Ham in the league and Championship Southampton in the FA Cup.

That cup defeat means Fulham must focus entirely on the league, where they are outsiders to secure a European place, but their hopes of bouncing back on Sunday may be limited if key creative force Harry Wilson is once again sidelined through injury.

Fulham have an impressive recent record against Forest, winning six of the seven meetings since the teams were promoted to the Premier League together in 2022, including December’s reverse fixture at Craven Cottage that finished 1-0.

It was also 1-0 to Marco Silva’s side when they last visited the City Ground in September 2024, and with so much riding on the game for Forest and both sides struggling for goals, a similarly low-scoring contest is expected.

Gibbs-White Forest’s go-to guy

If Forest are to flex their scoring muscles, midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White could play a key role. The England international has had 63 shots and 21 on target, more than any other player in Pereira’s squad.

Gibbs-White has scored in his last two league outings against Brighton and Manchester City, and even if he draws a blank on Sunday, he should be able to trouble the opposition goalkeeper on more than one occasion.

Rivals to cancel each other out

Forest have won just one of their last nine home matches but that run includes a draw with Premier League leaders Arsenal. With Fulham also struggling for form, this contest could finish all-square, and the 1-1 correct score offers plenty of appeal.

Nottingham Forest vs Fulham Bet BuilderForest or draw double chance

There is much more riding on this game for Forest than Fulham and the Tricky Trees will be desperate to pick up some kind of result to put pressure on their relegation rivals.

Morgan Gibbs-White to score or assist

Morgan Gibbs-White is Forest’s top scorer in the Premier League this season with eight goals, a tally that has been enhanced by his recent strikes against Brighton and Man City.

Raul Jimenez to commit two or more fouls

No Fulham player has given away more fouls in the league this season than Raul Jimenez, who has committed at least two infringements in six of his last ten top-flight appearances.
