prime Torres was exactly what we needed after Eto’o left, not Zlatan and Villa even though they were great players

  2. No. He thrived with space. The opposite of what Barcelona was doing at that time. He was incredible dynamically but against very low blocks he struggled a lot. His first touch and creation play wasn’t great. You can see it with the national team (and then Barcelona). Villa was a much better complement to that midfield.

He turned into Darwin Nunez after moving to Chelsea. Such a sad fall off. He was scary to watch during his Liverpool days.

  4. Definitely not. In La Liga, he wasn’t scoring many goals at Atletico Madrid. Kun Agüero was the main striker of that team scoring at will while Torres supported him scoring only great goals. At Liverpool he did end up scoring a lot though. After 2010 however, his form permanently dipped. Suarez ended up being better than Torres. Not even a question.

I always thought Villa performed better at Valencia than Torres did even at Liverpool, and I still feel this was the right decision. He was nowhere near Lewandowksi either. There was no way Torres would’ve made the same impact given his La Liga form, 2010+ form, Messi taking the false 9 spot, and Villa being on the team.

  5. Villa was better. Fernando Torres thrived in open space in the Premier League. Once he got older and lost confidence he was a shadow of himself

  6. Not really, he was more of a counter attack, Powerfull and physical forward.

We ve thrived better with either very gifted, technical ballers (Suárez, Alexis), or super clínical finishers (Lewandowski, Eto’o)

  7. Yes, he was clone for Ferran for most of his career except couple seasons at Liverpool

He wasn’t technical like villa , he was a player who needed space to operate properly

    – Torres at his prime was 3rd in Balon d’or just behind both CR7 and Messi
    – Even then on 2008/09 before his injury , he was a beast in open space and a very paced striker
    – I do think he was a semi Barca coded player because he was very unselfish , play for the team , and knows how to pivot with his teammates

  10. Propably wasn’t, but he’s definitely one of my favourite players ever, so having him in my favourite club would’ve been great anyway

He was a player I really wanted at Barcelona after Eto’o left. Such an explosive monster in his prime. May or may of not worked out at Barcelona but would of been interesting to see!
