Manchester United’s FA Cup journey earlier this season ended in disappointment after the club were knocked out of the Emirates FA Cup by Brighton & Hove Albion.
That defeat came during a brief transitional period at Old Trafford, with Darren Fletcher taking interim charge for two matches following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim earlier in the year.
While the senior side saw their hopes of lifting the famous trophy come to an end, another Manchester United team remains firmly in the hunt for FA Cup silverware this season.
Attention has now turned to the FA Youth Cup, where the club’s younger players continue their campaign in the prestigious competition.
We have already covered how Manchester United were drawn to face Sunderland in the quarter-final of the tournament, with that tie scheduled to take place on Wednesday 18 March.
The outcome of that match will determine whether United progress into the final four.
Now, the pathway beyond the quarter-final stage has also been confirmed.
The Football Association has confirmed on their website that the draw for the semi-final and final of the FA Youth Cup has been completed, revealing the potential route to the trophy for the remaining teams in the competition.
If Manchester United defeat Sunderland in the quarter-final, they will face Crystal Palace in the semi-final stage.
The young Red Devils have already booked their place in the Premier League Cup final against Crystal Palace, which is set to take place on April 22.
The FA has confirmed that the semi-final ties must be played by Saturday 11 April.
On the other side of the draw, Manchester City will take on Blackburn Rovers for the remaining place in the final.
The FA Youth Cup final itself has also been scheduled, with the showpiece match set to take place by Saturday 9 May.
Should Manchester United progress all the way to the final, they would face either Manchester City or Blackburn Rovers depending on the outcome of the other semi-final.
With the quarter-final against Sunderland approaching, United now know exactly what the path to the trophy could look like if they continue their run in the competition.
