Casemiro’s presence in midfield will be a huge boost for Manchester United after the Brazilian veteran missed out on the last meeting against Aston Villa in December.

There is no downplaying the significance of Manchester United’s upcoming Premier League clash against Aston Villa because both teams are in the hunt for a top four finish and lost their last league match.

As things stand, United are joint third with a better goal difference than Villa, but that could change if Michael Carrick’s side fail to get the desired result.

There are doubts over Lisandro Martinez’s fitness ahead of the game due to a calf injury, but it doesn’t sound like United have any fresh concerns to worry about before the match.

Villa beat United 2-1 in December when they were in much better form. It was one of Ruben Amorim’s final games as United head coach, and Casemiro was missing due to suspension.

Casemiro accumulated five yellow cards in the Premier League, which ruled him out of the game, leading to Amorim starting the game with a midfield consisting of Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte.

It was a busy afternoon for Ugarte, who made more tackles (5) than any other player on the pitch.

Emery will be warning his team that they will face a different United side this weekend, amid an impressive run of results since the beginning of the year, but also with Casemiro available.

Nearing the end of his tenure at Old Trafford, Casemiro has enjoyed a revival in midfield since Carrick returned to the job to succeed Amorim. Perhaps it helps that the temporary United head coach has positioned Casemiro alongside Kobbie Mainoo in the middle of the pitch.

Moreover, United have an abysmal record without Casemiro. They have been without Casemiro for two Premier League matches this season, with both ending in defeat.

United have had Casemiro available for 27 matches, recording 14 wins, nine draws and four defeats.

There is no disputing that Casemiro’s presence will be a huge benefit for United this weekend compared to when they last faced Villa.

Prove us wrong… Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes are the best midfield trio in the Premier League

There is not another trio we would swap them for!

Casemiro has played against Aston Villa six times since signing for United in 2022.

Four of those matches have ended in victory, one draw and one defeat.

Casemiro is looking for his first goal contribution against Villa this weekend, so Emery will be warning his defence to monitor him closely from corner kicks.

The Brazil international was in the starting line-up on four of the six occasions the Reds took on Villa.
