Shout out to VERIF FOOTBALL for the videos on Kasper doing the Danish Catch. Go check out his channel for many more Awesome video!
In this video, I show you how I do the danish catch, and the technique, and then I show you how Kasper is doing it in the most prominent scene! An effective technique if done correctly but please bear in mind that it takes years to master! This was one of the first catching techniques that I learned around the age of ten and I know from interviews, that Kasper learned it at a young age as well. It is a great tool to have whenever you face hard shots in your chest area and especially in wet weather conditions it is effective.

Saw this original vid lol!
good video!
Awesome work!
Saw the original vid. Nice added edits talking about the technique !
Thank you for this video. What is the best way to start learning this technique?
you can do wonders to more about defense as well a bit if you can would really help
Interesting as I'd never really looked at his keeping style because it didn't look that unusual to me. The style for trapping chest-height balls has changed over the years. This isn't overly different to how I grew up catching the ball as a kid in the UK in the 70s as that seemed to be the predominant style of catching the ball at that time (this Danish style does seem to have slightly different movements though). I remember a cousin of my mother coming around to an uncle's where I'd stay at weekends. He used to play in goal for the village team and I remember him once trying to "correct" my style. I must have been about 8 or 9 at the time. The style he used just seemed odd and didn't look very effective to me – it was a style used in the 50s and 60s where keepers would wrap their arms around the circumference of the ball. Anyway, that guy then went on to become president of the Football Association of Wales, which is what he was doing when Wales were busy qualifying for Euro 2016.
A really nice video
1. SELECT ball 😿(memories)..
2. So, if ball goes to solar-plexus or lower – keeper just lower stance accordingly instead of lowering forearms to catch it?
Thanks for explanation!
this is the technique I was shown when I was younger and still playing…makes a catch so much safer and easier.
Great!
What a great technique, good job on demonstrating as well.
after seeing both videos from you and VERIF, I realized that this technique negates any ball spins into 0 (granted you get the technique right) and remove the possibilities of a fluke on catching the ball.
such a cool technique to watch. cheers
i'm not a goalkeeper so I'm asking a novice question: from my point of view, when the ball is too fast, is there a big chance it bounces off the keeper's chest before he can grab this hand?
Awesome I just subbed
I do this (not the exact same, but very similar) out of fear of breaking my fingers lol. Hopefully after watching this vid I'll be able to improve the technique.
Hey this is a great technique.
But I have a question. A split second delay in grabbing the ball goes straight to you rib cage right ? So wont it hurt if it was shot at close range by somebody like say Roberto Carlos.
Thanks !
if only Karius was danish
Oh
I think this also minimizes the chance of the broken wrist or a broken finger, right?
