In the linked article by Matthew Hobbs at the BBC Sport website, much is made of the ‘Travel-happy Toffees’ and the prowess shown by their manager, David Moyes, in steering his side to an impressive 12 away wins since he returned in January 2025
In addition to this examination of Everton’s away form, the article also looks ar the tactics David Moyes has employed to achieve this, with an analysis of match stats from Opta, and a focus on how important James Garner has been to the team this season.
Some more interesting stats presented by Matt Hobbs in addition to acquiring the second-most points from away games this season, are the 0 set-piece goals conceded, with Everton 2nd for aerial duels won. All this is done on very low average possession stats, with Everton down at 20th in the Premier League on 39.3%.
All of which plays in to the importance of set-piece execution, which Everton were ripped for against Spurs — but that was at home, where it’s a different story. However, Arsenal’s set-piece strength may play into the game on Saturday, but hopefully without the all-in wrestling tactics that proved to be an embarrassment for Everton when they lost at home to Manchester Utd.
Former Everton midfielder Leon Osman tells the BBC he believes Everton can pose a serious test of Arsenal’s title credentials on Saturday evening.
“I think in the past, you go there and you’re a little bit worried and hope you might be able to get a result,” he said.
“This year it’s a bit different. You’re going to the team 7 points clear at the top of the table but I think it’s Arsenal that’ll be more worried.
“I think they will be nervous going to this game knowing that they have to keep on winning all of the games and realising that this isn’t a pushover.”
If the Blues were to manage a seismic shock against the leaders, Manchester City could close back within 4 points by winning on Saturday night at West Ham United — and with a game still in hand.

I’d be very optimistic of us getting at least a draw on Saturday, but I’m waiting for Moyes press conference tomorrow, for the simple reason to find out if Branthwaite is in the squad.
Something doesn’t feel right that he didn’t travel for warm weather training, even though the club said they’re just monitoring his fitness, and nothing else said for the last 10 days?
