NEWCASTLE (4-3-3):

6 Ramsdale: Made a decent first-half save from Reijnders, but didn’t exactly exude confidence

6 Trippier: Tried his best down Newcastle’s right, but looks in need of a rest with Livramento now back

5 Botman: Couldn’t contain Marmoush, even if he won a few headers when City played the ball into the box

6 Thiaw: Battled away gamely at the heart of Newcastle’s back four – his commitment can’t be faulted

5 Hall: Had a difficult night against the lively Savinho – allowed the ball to go past him for City’s first goal

4 Willock: Was outplayed by Manchester City’s midfielders and wasted a decent chance in the second half by firing over

7 TONALI: Newcastle’s best player by a distance – was trying to hold the midfield together on his own

4 Woltemade: More evidence that his switch to midfield is no longer working – couldn’t get anywhere near City’s midfielders

5 Elanga: Was lively in the opening 20 minutes or so, breaking forward, but quickly dropped out of the game once City began to control things

5 Osula: Couldn’t make the most of a rare start – wasted an early break by failing to get the ball under control

6 Barnes: Opened the scoring with an excellent finish and carried a threat down Newcastle’s left

Subs:

6 Joelinton (for Elanga, 62): Added some much-needed midfield bite – should have started

5 Wissa (for Osula, 62): It said a lot that he was left on the bench with Osula starting

5 Burn (for Trippier, 62): Newcastle were well and truly on the back foot by the time he was introduced

Gordon (for Woltemade, 72)

Livramento (for Hall, 79)

(not used): Pope (gk), A Murphy, J Murphy, Neave.

MAN CITY (4-3-3):

Man Of The Match: OMAR MARMOUSH – Half of the Egyptian’s goals as a Manchester Cty player have come against Newcastle.
