Today, we throwback to the Championship game between the two sides at Portman Road when the Blues’ recorded their last win over the East Midlands outfit in March 2013.

They were humbled by the Foxes’ earlier in the 2012/13 campaign, having lost 6-0 at the King Power Stadium back in the November which was Mick McCarthy’s fourth game in charge since being appointed Town manager.

However, he would lift the Blues off the bottom of the table and guiding his side away from relegation trouble.

This game saw future England captain and record goalscorer Harry Kane feature for Leicester, who was on loan at Tottenham Hotspurs at the time and had a nightmare on Suffolk soil with plenty of missed chances.

It was a scrappy game which could have gone either way, but it was the Blues who claimed all three points with a late goal.

David McGoldrick, who was on loan at Town from Nottingham Forest, netted in the 85th minute when Wes Morgan failed the clear to ball from danger which allowed Daryl Murphy to slip the ball to McGoldrick and the forward fired past Kasper Schmeichel into the net to claim his second goal for Town.

Town were able to hold on for the victory to secure another battle victory under McCarthy, who led the Blues’ to finish 14th in the table at the end of that campaign.

Town XI: Henderson, Stearman, Chambers, Smith, Cresswell, Edwards (c), N’Daw, Hyam, Martin (Emmanuel-Thomas 80), Chopra (Murphy 80), McGoldrick (Drury 90).

Hopefully Kieran McKenna’s men can finally secure a win over Leicester City, having lost four and drawn three in the last seven meetings against them.
