Sandro Tonali is the big name midfielder being linked with a move to Arsenal but his preference is said to be a move back to Italy.
Tonali emerged as a shock target for the Gunners on deadline day but Newcastle had no interest in entertaining any sort of bid.
Now, it appears Arsenal’s mind might already be made up and in reality, it could be a good thing.

It would be arrogant of Arsenal as a club and any fan to simply suggest they could go and get Sandro Tonali without any fuss.
Newcastle will want huge money and rightly so.

Furthermore, journalist Ben Jacobs has told The United Stand that Tonali actually wants a move back home if he can.
“There’s not really an Italian club as of now that can afford Sandro Tonali. I’m still led to believe from sources close to Tonali that if he had a dream pick, he is quite keen on going back to Italy,” Jacobs revealed.
With that in mind, it actually makes more sense for Arsenal to walk away from negotiations already.
Why Arsenal should move on from Sandro Tonali
Nobody who watches Arsenal or Newcastle regularly will deny that Tonali is a top player and it goes without saying he’d improve any squad in the world.
However, the problems are already there with Tonali when it comes to a move to Arsenal.
Aside from the huge fee it would take, Arsenal also need to think about where he would play within their system and just who he replaces.
But away from the issues of where Arsenal play him if they did get him, there’s also this recurring problem of where Tonali’s head actually is.

We don’t need to mention the past issues which saw him banned, but there’s also this recurring theme of Tonali actually wanting to be at Arsenal. Clearly, and with this not being the first time we’ve heard Tonali might prefer a move back to Italy, he doesn’t exactly fit the ‘all in’ culture that Mikel Arteta has built.
Right now, it’s a story and saga that threatens to dominate Arsenal’s summer when in reality, they might be best served simply by looking at other targets.
