Fulham’s Raúl Jiménez has an opportunity to leave the Premier League for Saudi Arabia in the summer.
That’s what journalist Miguel Gurwitz is reporting, relayed by Marca in Mexico.
Towards the end of last year, the Fulham player talked about receiving several offers to leave Marco Silva’s side.
The Mexico international has also expressed his desire to finish his playing career in his country.
Earlier this month, Sport Witness covered claims from Mexico that the 34-year-old has no plans to return to Mexico after this season. The same report indicated he could continue in England where Everton and West Ham United would be possible options.
Saudi interest in Fulham striker
Gurwitz talks about a move to the Middle East as an option for the frontman. He reports an unnamed Saudi Arabia club have joined the race.
Jiménez graduated from Club América’s academy and has talked about his desire to join his old club at some point in the future.
The finances could make it difficult for Club América to sign him as they can’t compete with Saudi Arabia.
Marca points out he earns €100,000 per week at Fulham, and the Mexican club would find it difficult to match.
If Middle East clubs are keen, the salary they can offer him will be much higher than what Club América can offer. In other words, an offer from them will be ‘practically irresistible’ for the player.
Julián Quiñones left Club América for Al-Qadsiah in 2024 and enjoyed a good run. The report indicates this could probably influence Jiménez to follow the Colombian to Saudi Arabia.
Should there be a proposal from Saudi Arabia, Jiménez will have to make an important decision at this stage of his career. In short, the ‘economic factor weighs heavily in the decision.’
Contract and value
Transfermarkt values him at €4m, but clubs interested can sign him for free in the summer. That’s because his contract at Fulham expires at the end of the season.
It’s unclear whether Silva’s side plan to offer an extension. If they do, it’ll most likely be for another year rather than a long-term contract due to his age.
Jiménez has scored nine goals and contributed three assists from 34 matches for Fulham this season.
