Manchester United legend Bryan Robson has picked Casemiro as a player he would love to compete alongside. Picking out what he believes to be the best aspects of the Brazilian’s game.

Despite only spending the end of his career at Manchester United, Casemiro has established himself to be a cult hero among the fanbase and will be remembered after his exit.

Casemiro leaves United in June, yet he’s currently performing as well as ever, scoring goals and shining for Michael Carrick on what is effectively his farewell tour.

Now, club legend Bryan Robson has praised Casemiro.

Casemiro is our number one ranked Brazilian to play for Man Utd – Do you agree?

Let’s hear your rankings? What would you change about this list?

Robson has appeared on the latest episode of the Inside Carrington Podcast, in which he was asked about which current player he would most like to play alongside.

“When he was a bit younger, I’d say Casemiro”, Robson admitted.

“I would like to play with him. I think he’s got a great football brain. He’s tough. He’s good in the air, a great passer of the ball, but he knows the game, you know, and that’s why he was at Real Madrid and won as much as he did at Real Madrid. I wish he were five years younger playing for this club.”

This is an interesting pick, considering Robson and Bruno Fernandes are often compared for being the outstanding players in a less-than-successful era.

Imagining a midfield pairing of Robson and Casemiro is a potential league-leading combination, with the duo being so well-rounded.

Come the summer, United will need to sign a replacement for Casemiro, with the Brazilian’s contract set to expire. The club will have had six months to find the perfect signing for this job.

Elliot Anderson is United’s number one option, with the Nottingham Forest midfielder seen as the perfect signing this summer.

However, despite United’s interest, Anderson may end up signing for Man City, considering they are currently better placed for success. But United could probably outbid City, and Forest won’t be ready to accept lower offers.

United can upgrade in terms of running and mobility, but Casemiro’s impact on the team on and off the pitch cannot be replicated.

There are a number of good signings for United, but whoever arrives has a big challenge to fill the Brazilian’s boots.
