The first signs of spring are slowly but surely beginning to appear across Liverpool as the blue skies, daffodils, and warmer weather are being welcomed by many.
Warmer temperatures have been felt across the city this week as conditions become more settled.
It comes after a wetter than average winter for the UK, the wettest on record. The much-needed sunshine will be welcomed by many as February brought some of the lowest sunshine totals on record for all four UK nations.
The Met Office has predicted a “bright and dry” outlook for Friday and Saturday. BBC Weather said: “Friday will be mostly cloudy and dry, with a chance of some late bright spells developing. Saturday and Sunday will remain dry and mainly cloudy, though bright spells will be interspersed at times throughout.”

Tony Wisson, deputy chief forecaster with the Met Office added: “This week is the start of meteorological spring, and the forecast is set to reflect the seasonal shift. Over the next few days, the conditions are likely to become noticeably more settled, offering a welcome change from recent unsettled weather.”
Merseyside is a fantastic place to soak up the sun, from Liverpool’s waterfront, incredible parks or its beautiful beaches. Whenever the good weather arrives in Merseyside, it seems there are certain places where Scousers love to flock to. The ECHO has rounded up a list of the most popular things people do as soon as the sun shines in Merseyside.
Have a picnic or BBQ in the park

We are blessed with a variety of beautiful parks across our region, so it’s no wonder that so many Scousers congregate in them on a sunny day. Sefton Park and Calderstones Park are both popular choices for those wanting to spend time outside, and with that comes the option of al fresco dining.
When the sun is shining, you are guaranteed to see the plumes of smoke or smell the burgers and sausages sizzling as you walk past groups of people enjoying picnics and BBQs.
Battle the crowds at Concert Square

Whether you want to join the hordes of people who gather at Concert Square as soon as the weather turns warm or you’re using it as a cut through to make your way between Seel Street and Fleet Street, the outdoor space is always heaving on a sunny day, meaning getting a seat there or making your way through will always be a challenge.
Sit outside on Lark Lane

Lark Lane is known for its “bohemian vibe” and for being home to a vibrant mix of unique and independent cafes, restaurants, bars, and boutiques.
The street is lined with outdoor seating and beer gardens, and when the sun is shining, you will struggle to find a table without people sitting on it, enjoying a drink or sampling some of the delicious food from one of the businesses.
Visit one of the many beaches

Merseyside boasts a selection of wonderful beaches. Visitors can spot red squirrels at Formby, unwind at the Bus Yard bar in Crosby, check out the Thurstaston lighthouse, or take a quick journey to New Brighton.
Fight for a space on the grass bits on the Pier Head

Home to the Three Graces, the Pier Head is a popular place to go and catch the sun with its stunning architecture and views of the Mersey. Despite this, there isn’t a big grass area to sunbathe on.
The grass verge opposite the Mersey Ferries terminal is often packed out with people with the same idea. If you don’t find a space there, you’ll have to settle for sitting on the slightly less comfortable benches or stone edges.
Enjoy a drink in a beer garden

Liverpool is home to many of fantastic beer gardens, making the choice of where to enjoy an outdoor drink a difficult one.
While some are adamant that the best spot is outside the Baltic Fleet in the city centre, others suggest alternatives like Allerton Manor or The Brookhouse.
Head to the Baltic

The Baltic Triangle is full of great outdoor spaces such as the Baltic Market, Botanical Gin Garden and the Brewery Tap pub, meaning it’s often tempting to make a trip there on a sunny day.
