Amazon is experiencing a major global outage, with customers reporting the website is down. Shoppers have taken to social media to voice their frustrations, while thousands have also logged issues on DownDetector.

Reports are coming from across the world, including the US and UK. In the US, more than 21,700 users reported problems by 3.48pm EST (8.48pm GMT), after the outage began around 2pm EST. In the UK, reports on DownDetector peaked at approximately 8.13pm.

Users from Turkey, Thailand Brazil and Canada are also reporting problems using Amazon. A range of issues have been flagged, including difficulties logging in, browsing products, and completing purchases.

Some also received a message via the Amazon app warning of service disruptions, which read: “We’re sorry if you’re experiencing issues while placing an order. We’re working to fix this as quickly as possible.

“Please try again later, or visit our Customer Service page for more help.”

A drone strike in the United Arab Emirates hit two of Amazon’s data centers on Monday, but there is no evidence of a link to this evening’s outage, reports the Mirror.

The drone strike did cause outages for products using AWS services in the Middle East, but no outages linked to Amazon’s website or app were reported, CNBC reported.
