The Liverpool Empire has issued a statement after cancelling its latest show. The Olivier Award-winning smash hit Dear England arrived at the theatre earlier this week but has been forced to cancel tonight’s performance due to “cast indisposition”. The hugely popular show tells the uplifting, at times heartbreaking, story of Gareth Southgate’s tenure as England manager.
Samantha Womack stars as game-changing team psychologist, Pippa Grange opposite David Sturzaker as Gareth Southgate. It arrived at the Liverpool Empire Theatre on Tuesday, March 3, and is set to run until Saturday, March 7.
However, the Liverpool Empire has issued a statement cancelling tonight’s (Thursday, March 5) performance.
It said: “Tonight’s performance of Dear England (Thursday March 5, 7.30pm) has been cancelled due to cast indisposition. We appreciate this is disappointing news and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
“Ticket holders will be contacted by their point of purchase directly to discuss option available for their booking.”

Details surrounding the cancellation have been kept under wraps, with some ticketholders wondering if tomorrow’s performance will go ahead as planned.
Samantha Womack recently shared a special message ahead of starring in the show. Boasting an incredible career in television and on stage, many will know Samantha for her role as Ronnie Mitchell in EastEnders.
Samantha told the ECHO last week: “I’m really excited to get to Liverpool next week. You’d think the show is about football but it’s not, football is just the framework to tell a story about love, loss, fear and what it means to be English.
“There’s music, there’s tears, there’s laughter – if any city will get it, Liverpool will get it.
“It’s just got that heart that people respond to, it’s telling the story of real people. It’s moving in all the right ways and I really want to show it off to Liverpool because I’m proud of it.”
