Well, well, well. Bayern Munich might be ready to disrupt the transfer market.
And they might be looking to swoop in for another Premier League star.
Bayern’s recent acquisitions from the Premier League have been nothing short of spectacular. Harry Kane is the world’s best footballer, Michael Olise is a close second and has been dominating the right wing, while Luis Diaz is easily the best left winger at the moment. What a terrific set of signings over a 3-year period.
And now the Bavarians might be looking to make that 4/4 with Brentford’s star winger, Kevin Schade.
The left winger, who was signed from the legendary SC Freiburg, has been shining for 7th-placed Brentford. He has been on Bayern’s radar since his time at Freiburg, where he frequently impressed with his combination of incredible pace and dribbling ability. What makes the player even more appealing are his physical attributes… he’s frequently able to outmuscle his man and get into good scoring positions or use his physicality to hold the ball and release it for his teammates.
According to Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) as captured by @iMiaSanMia:
Bayern are keeping an eye on Kevin Schade (24). Brentford wants to extend the winger’s contract beyond 2028, and his advisors are sounding out the market. However, he will be very expensive, with Brentford demanding a transfer fee of €50-60 million.
Now that is quite the transfer fee.
Bayern Munich is blessed with the world’s best wingers at the moment. Therefore, it makes sense to either procure a veteran winger for depth or sign a young and coming talent with potential for cheaper. However, it is also possible that the Bayern board are considering signing a proven quantity with the quality to start in a rotation that would allow Diaz and Olise to get rest without compromising the quality of the starting XI too much.
Schade will most definitely be a backup to those two incredible wingers, but so would any other winger in the world. For a depth option, this certainly feels like a luxury, but one that would deliver. With Gnabry playing almost exclusively as a 10, and Nicolas Jackson most definitely gone at the end of the season, a depth option would be a necessity, and Schade would instantly become one of the best 3rd options in world football.
Would he be happy with just sitting on the bench in big games? Doubtful.
