A big win after a big week – I thought Tuesday night’s 1-0 victory over Hull City was massive for Ipswich Town.

Sat behind the goal at Portman Road with 70 minutes on the referee’s watch, I couldn’t help but feel that the game was going to be decided by either a mistake or a moment of brilliance.

Thankfully for us, it was the latter.

And what a goal it was! Has there ever been a more popular goalscorer than Azor Matusiwa?

I think every Ipswich fan feels the same about him. Aggressive, hard-working, but with bags of quality on the ball – and he showcased that with the strike that earned us an important three points in the promotion race.

Goal of the season? It’s definitely up there

But I’m not sure much is beating Jaden Philogene’s goal against 17th-placed Norwich City back in October – unless he goes and does the same in their back yard next month!

I was really pleased with that win because it felt like a really big moment in the season.

Up next for Town is Leicester City at home, a side who beat us back in December, but one now, given their situation on-and-off-the-pitch, we simply have to be beating.

I can’t see any other result than a Town win and I’d imagine those at Coventry City, Middlesbrough and Millwall will feel the same.

For me, there’s no excuse for anything other than three points and to be honest, I think we should be looking for nine points out of the next three games before the run starts to get a little tougher.

After taking on already-relegated Sheffield Wednesday next Saturday, we’ll face Millwall, Southampton, Birmingham, Norwich and Middlesbrough in succession.

That’ll make or break our top two chances for the season, but if we can win all the games leading into it, at least it gives us a little leeway.
