Christian Walton
12th clean sheet of the season without a save to make. Quiet night against a Hull side who didn’t look to test him. Calm under pressure playing out from the back. 7
Darnell Furlong
A tougher night against Liam Millar but did well to keep the Canadian quiet. Looked really solid for most of the game. Avoided a 10th booking of the season but probably could have done more to support Walle Egeli going forward. 7
Dara O’Shea
A couple of hiccups but defended well and ensured Hull didn’t really have a sniff. Pace chasing balls was important and he was often afforded time to start attacks from the back, especially in the second half. 8
Cedric Kipre
Brave defending and progressive on the ball. Was a threat from set pieces and had few issues against Hull’s front three. 7
Jacob Greaves started at left-back against his boyhood club (Image: Ross Halls)
Jacob Greaves
Acted well as a defensive left-back, with Joe Gelhardt totally nullified and hooked at the break, but it didn’t really work for him going forward and Davis’ introduction in his place changed the game. 7
Azor Matusiwa
A couple of heavy touches that Hull pounced on but largely dominant in midfield, then caps off his performance with a thunderbolt from outside the box to win the game. His first in an Ipswich shirt. 8 (Man of the Match)
Jack Taylor
Involved in a lot and sprayed some nice passes but lacked the spark that Matusiwa’s partner always needs in midfield. 7
Sindre Walle Egeli
Frustrating. Seemed hesitant to take on his man and struggled to unlock Hull’s defence. Worked hard but nothing really clicked. 6
Marcelino Nunez
Kept things ticking over in the final third but his shooting was way off. Hit and miss on free-kicks. Not one of his better Town displays. 7
Jack Clarke
A little tired. Hull didn’t have too many problems defending against him and his mazy dribbles didn’t lead to a great deal. Not for a want of trying. Missed an absolute sitter that would have made it 2-0. 6
George Hirst returned to the team to lead the line (Image: Ross Halls)
George Hirst
Denied with his best chance and saw a header saved. Didn’t have a great deal to work off. 6
Substitute: Leif Davis (57′)
Came on and stretched play. Ipswich’s best attacks came with him on the pitch. Assists in back-to-back games, albeit this one was a simple lay-off to Matusiwa. 8
Substitute: Wes Burns (57′)
Ran his socks off. Should have had an assist for his efforts. 7
Substitute: Anis Mehmeti (68′)
Slick and smooth in the final third in a fairly short cameo. Played a part in the goal. 7
Substitute: Dan Neil (68′)
Still carrying a bit of rustiness from the second half against Swansea. One sloppy error almost led to a Hull goal but he recovered well. 6
Substitute: Ivan Azon (78′)
Held up the ball well in the dying stages. 6
