Axel Disasi had another splendid game today against Fulham, where he managed to achieve his fourth clean sheet in Claret and Blue colours, whilst also playing alongside his fellow French international.
Axel Disasi seemingly has proved the critics wrong once again, the French international had a blinding performance, one of which certainly helped the Hammers to secure a crucial three points, and a trio of collection has placed the Hammers on level ground with Nottingham Forest, just one point behind Spurs, who face Crystal Palace tomorrow and Leeds in headlights just a win away.
The Frenchman was played alongside his counterpartner today for the first time, giving West Ham their newest French duo, with the last pair being Kurt Zouma and Issa Diop during the 2021/22 season, though at the time, they didn’t appear comfortable with one another, to which the same cannot be said for Axel and Jean-Clair.
A phenomenal defensive display saw Axel Disasi be the playmaker from the defence, making 53 passes into total, achieving an 89% passing accuracy, not to mention his five passes into the final third, alongside winning all of his Aerial duels, which likely is one of the reasons that Nuno decided to drop Mavropanos, as Jean-Clair Todibo is statistically a better tackler of a ball, meaning Mavro’s aerial ability has been nullified due to Disasi’s excellence as of late.
As well as being able to work alongside Todibo within the space of a game, he worked brilliantly on the left side with Malick Diouf and Mateus Fernandes, to whom he was feeding passes to across the entirety of the game, whether that was from a Hermansen throw or by denying the Fulham attacker, everything from Disasi seemed to turn into gold dust and he’s been a crucial piece to our immense success in recent months.
They say never fall in love with a loan player, but it’s extremely difficult given how crucial he’s been for us in these dying moments of the season with just nine games remaining, four of which will see the Hammers take on Manchester City, Aston Villa, Arsenal and Newcastle.
A tough set of fixtures remains, but the Hammers’ fighting spirit lives on.
