With a 1-0 victory against Brighton today, Arsenal have extended their lead over second-placed Manchester City to seven points.

Bukayo Saka scored after a deflected shot in the ninth minute, and Arsenal never ceded the advantage and have now entrenched their standing atop the Premier League table.

Manchester City squandered the opportunity to eradicate their deficit, and to even keep pace in the table.

Pep Guardiola’s side could only record a 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest after losing the lead twice.

Though City have a game in hand, which would take the deficit to four points if they win, and face Arsenal, even a win against Mikel Arteta’s side leaves the title still in Arsenal hands.
