These are the Newcastle United vs Manchester United confirmed lineups for their Wednesday night fixture. We will also detail the latest team news for each side based on the pre-match press conferences.

The home side lost last time out to Everton at home, making it five losses in their last six performances in the league. Manchester United continued their winning run with a 2-1 home win against Crystal Palace, with Bruno Fernandes again putting on a fantastic display.

In the reverse fixture, Manchester United walked away victorious on Boxing Day as a result of a Patrick Dorgu screamer.

Newcastle vs Manchester United Confirmed Lineups & Team News

Newcastle United Team News

The Newcastle team is ravaged by injuries ahead of this fixture.

Captain, Bruno Guimaraes, Emil Krafth, Lewis Miley, Fabian Schar and Tino Livramento all missed the Everton game and are all expected to be out for the United fixture. Eddie Howe confirmed that Livramento is “getting closer and closer” to a return, although he recognised that this game may be too soon for him.

Howe also noted how: “There’s an illness, potentially, in the squad because Nick Woltemade has gone down ill and we haven’t seen him for a couple of days”; however, he did state that he may be available for the United game.

Newcastle United Confirmed Lineup

Starting XI: Ramsdale, Trippier, Thiaw, Burn, Hall, Joelinton, Tonali, Ramsey, Elanga, Barnes, Gordon.

Subs: Pope, Botman, Wissa, Neave, Osula, J. Murphy, Willock, A. Murphy, Shahar.

Manchester United Team News

Michael Carrick confirmed that Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw were substituted off against Crystal Palace due to illness, rather than injury. “It wasn’t injury, both weren’t feeling too good, so it’s one of those things really. We’ll see how they are”. Both are in contention for the Newcastle game.

No updates were provided on Mason Mount, Matthijs de Ligt, Patrick Dorgu or Lisandro Martinez, so we can assume they remain out of action.
