Jake Radwell, who has a history of sexual offences involving children, walked free from Southampton Crown Court after being handed a suspended prison term.

Radwell, 42, of Kent Street, Southampton, has claimed to have spent years in the city advocating for LGBTQ+ as part of People’s Pride Southampton.

But the charity says he was swiftly removed in 2019 after his criminal past came to light and has accused him of overstating his involvement.

Radwell helped stage a party for a nine-year-old boy in Southampton in April 2025.

The court heard it was attended by three families, only two of whom knew he was the subject of a sexual harm prevention order.

Ed Culver, prosecuting, said: “The defendant was fully aware that he had not told one of the families in the detail required. In my submission, it was a deliberate and planned omission.

“When interviewed, he suggested he had told everyone everything about his offending history, which was untrue.”

Radwell had previously pleaded guilty to breaching the order.

Eve Shelley, mitigating, said two of the families at the party were long-standing friends of the defendant and knew about the order.

She added: “The mistake he made was in relying on them to inform the other parents. It was his responsibility to ensure everyone was aware.”

Ms Shelley described the party as a small gathering that took place in a building covered by CCTV.

She added: “At no time was he unsupervised with the children. He was not trying to hide or disguise himself. No additional offences have been identified or are before the court.”

Urging the court to impose a suspended sentence she said: “There’s a real prospect of rehabilitation.”

Judge William Mousley KC told Radwell: “The order was imposed in 2017 for an indefinite period.

“It contained a number of prohibitions and controls designed to limit or remove any opportunity you might have to be alone with children. This was a deliberate breach, albeit a single incident.”

But the judge added: “I am satisfied you do not currently pose a high risk of offending that would cause harm.”

Radwell was handed a one-year sentence, suspended for two years. He must obey a 7pm-6am curfew for six months and undertake 15 days of rehabilitation activity. He must also pay £1,000 court costs.
