Talking all things Tottenham Hotspur and the transfer window as Conor Gallagher signs

  1. Good signing for spurs Connor is! English player 35m – compare with Archie Gray and it’s much better business – I like Archie but upcoming young player should never have been 40m – not his fault though!

No doubt Frank will now like playing Gallagher as 10 and xavi on the wing though!

  2. Excellent signing, better than anything we had in midfield, minus Palhinha who’s a different type of player entirely. Leader, experience, model pro. Very happy with this one. And he didn’t play as much for Atletico this season because Barrios and Koke have just struck up a great partnership and Koke is having an Indian summer to his career.

  3. Spurs cunning plan to not over work the players, ..get knocked out of all competitions early and we will reap the rewards later on in the spring and pick up more points

  4. With Dom back, both of their work rate will be infectious. And hopefully rub off on the others who's confidence levels are low, with people hiding not making runs etc. Then there is his leadership qualities which is another ingredient we lack. The balance of Palhinha (no 6), Gallagher (no 8) and Xavi (no 10) seems on the face of it to be much better. Good signing. Good price. Coys

  5. I've had a long standing theory on the injury crisis that we seem to get every few months. The one main factor I notice is the training facilities. As far as I can tell, most of those pitches are fake, synthetic grass which I'm guessing is laid on top of either graded earth, OR as I suspect, concrete; or more precisely a hard packed pourous material to aid in drainage. To me, that is the last type of surface anyone should train on, I'd go as far to say it's the entire problem with injuries. Hard pack like concrete and other man made materials do not vibrate or resonate in the same way as earth, sand or even clay, which is why it's so bad for the leg bones to run on pavement. I'm probably now a part of the tin foil hat club for this, but it makes sense, pavement is bad to walk on, intense training on fake pitches rolled on to nigh on solid foundations = bad vibes. Literally.

  6. When you have time to do another QA, Ali. I have a question.

Since you’re an NFL fan and a professional journalist covering the club you’re a supporter of… I’m curious what your thoughts are on that Jacksonville Jaguars local reporter taking the time during the press conference to praise and commend the Head Coach after they lost their playoff game and their season ended? Over here in NA it seems to have caught fire and has a lot of people divided (at the moment) on whether or not that reporter should have done that. Part of me feels it’s manufactured divisiveness because the only people that seemed to take offense to it were other journalists and reporters. But I feel most fans and players think that they’d prefer to see a lot more of this happening—especially if coming from the local press.

I’m curious if you have any thoughts or opinions at all about the situation. I’m also curious if there have been any moments in your career where you’ve wanted to do something similar during a press conference for a Manager or player you felt needed a hug, but your professionalism prevented you from doing so?

    Thanks and as always, COYS!

  7. Hi Alisdair it does surprise me that we don't try to bring through our youngsters when they haven't long won the youngsters Premier league, so why don't our club trust them to do the same in the first team squad? Some of the other Premier league clubs do, like them that shell remain nameless. So i don't understand perhaps one day someone might explain it to me.

  8. Here's my issue with Tottenham. We change our plans every 6 months. Might even be sooner. But it's getting old.
There's no clear cut strategy on scouting, what style of play, path to the first team, none of it.
But good thing we have Beyonce concerts

  9. This is a banging signing for us,I don't know what some fans want. Gallagher is going to be a great fit for us,he will make life easier for Simons. COYS!!!!!

  10. Gallagher’s signing is perfect timing for our group’s pilgrimage to London for Saturday’s and Tuesday’s matches. Even though he can’t be added to the CL squad yet, his presence and leadership experience should help vs. Borussia Dortmund too, in part because Frank can rest one of the other midfielders vs. West Ham.

  11. There’s nothing wrong with a right footed right winger playing on the right and a left footed winger playing on the left.
Sick of watching inverted wingers slowing the game down.

  12. Alasdair I wish you'd ignore the X moaners when picking up on how Spurs fans feel. I'm sure most, like us are really pleased with Connor. Can you dig into what's happened to Pape? He's only played 10 mins of Afcon and hasn't looked right since early season. Surely he's carrying an injury????
Radu was wanted by Bayern, since injury is sounds like his future is elsewhere. Why?? What's happened?
You speak about Kulu, Madders coming back but both of them are probably going to take months to get back to their previous levels, if they ever do. Madders is a lovely guy but he'll be 29. He sadly wasn't as good last season and is very injury prone. A big club like Liverpool would almost forget they existed, buy new players and welcome then back once fit. I'm nervous we spend too much time waiting for them only to find the injuries have taken 5-10% of the player for good.
Scarlet should have kicked on. He hasn't had one decent loan and apparently we couldn't give him away in the summer. Evidence shows he should have left Spurs, sadly.

  13. Dragusin or his agent, sure have balls to be demanding game time and a loan or even a move away when he's literally just come back from an injury , lasting eight months…

  14. Another good video Gallagher is a good signing he çan play 6 8 or 10 hìs passing is better than people think as said by someone else this signing is not because of bentancur injury you don't spend £40 million to cover a 3 month injury

  15. We need a win tomorrow. If we get that there will be an air of positivity for a change that we can carry forward into the rest of the month. Of course if Dr Tottenham puts in an appearance and we drop points against west ham then it could all unravel very quickly particularly given the protest before the game.

  16. Brilliant player and i think he will be a great addition to the squad. A lot of spurs fans concerns(rightly so) comes from the fact that we are badly need a progressive passer whos more involved in the first phase of buildup( as frank likes to say). Gallagher is more of a final third player with great box presence and pressing skills. My brother whos an atletico fan also mentions he used to struggle a lot in a deeper pivot which is not suited for him so we still need a midfielder to perform that role imo.

  17. Thanks for the last couple videos. I appreciated both in different ways. I’m definitely excited about Gallagher, can’t wait to see him play for Spurs. Hope we start off his time with a W. Cheers Ali!!

  18. I think this is a tidy bit of business.

No disrespect to Cuti, Bentancur, and Richy, but we need leaders on the pitch….. not players making rash challenges as retaliation and picking up unnecessary cards, giving away free kicks, or easy shots on target. Our South American contingent is guilty of this and they really need to be held to a higher standard, given their experience.

  19. G'day Alasdair, thank you for the correct pronunciation of Mason Melia's name. Before leaving Ireland in 1987, I supported St. Patrick's Athletic as I lived 5 minutes from their ground in Richmond Park in Dublin. St. Pats' most famous transfer was the brilliant Paul McGrath to Manchester United.

  20. Thanks for these videos Ali.. I'm not sure how many seasons I've supported you now but I know that my use of YouTube has pretty much become Ali TV (and the occasional fixing of cars).

Big fan of Gallagher, not sure we really needed him, but I'm hoping his energy is infectious.. can't wait to see the 6 man CM formation Frank's working on when all are fit:
    Madders
    Bergvall
    Sarr
    Bentancur
    Gray
    Kulusevski
    Xavi
    Palhinha
    Gallagher

Obviously setting us up for another exodus in the summer

  21. Was Paratici being paid or compensated in any way by the club during his lengthy ban? If so, would seem like a huge waste of money for what turned out to be a very short comeback.

  22. We should not risk adding Deki into the squad. I don’t think he will return to the standard he was when we first bought him. He was already in decline before he got injured. We need in form and fit players if we make it through to the final stages of the CL.
