Without Morgan Gibbs-White this season, Nottingham Forest might already be preparing for Championship football next season.
The England international scored his seventh goal of the season and his fourth in 2026 with a stunning long-range effort against Brighton.
However, goals from Diego Gomez and Danny Welbeck ensured a win for Brighton against Forest and ensured another missed opportunity for the Reds.
How would rate Morgan Gibbs-White’s performances for Nottingham Forest this season?
Vitor Pereira has now lost both of the games he’s overseen in the Premier League, with a further loss coming in midweek against Fenerbahce in the Europa League – although Forest did get through on aggregate.
After the game, the Forest players looked thoroughly dejected with Gibbs-White spotted suggesting he’s royally fed up live on Sky Sports.

Gibbs-White led from the front as the captain yesterday and that’s exactly what he’s done since the turn of the year, taking his game to another level.
His goal against Brighton was probably the best one he’s scored for the Reds, and he’s now second on the all-time list of Premier League scorers for Forest behind Chris Wood.
After the game, Gibbs-White was picked up on the Sky Sports coverage saying, ‘Every time, every single time’, likely alluding to the fact that every time Forest have a golden chance to pull clear of the relegation zone, they blow it.
Forest’s situation is getting pretty perilous and after this latest defeat, the Reds have to go to Manchester City, with West Ham having a golden chance to go above Pereira’s team with a win at Fulham.
Gibbs-White showing the fight for survival
During a 0-0 draw with Wolves, Gibbs-White showed his love for his teammates by asking fans not to boo Omari Hutchinson following a corner that sailed straight into the side netting.
One thing that Gibbs-White doesn’t lack is fight, and if there is one player determined to get the club out of this situation, it’s most certainly the Reds’ number 10.
Who was the worst performing player against Brighton?
The Reds slipped to a 2-1 defeat…
Quite clearly, he’s sick and tired of doing the business only to be let down by shot-shy teammates or the defensive unit dropping performances that are well below par.
Forest players have to start believing they can climb out of this current predicament, and ultimately, it’s now or never with the Reds looking destined for the bottom three this week.
