Palmers position was initially something I questioned… but forcing a cb to defend him in between the lines created acres for Joao – who slowly is showing elite forward play.

All in all Liam was tactically sound, but short people recruitment has its backside.. these defensive setpieces.

Talking about recruitment- the wingers is so dire, let’s hope for quenda and a fit estavao because Neto is a rotation option at best, while gittens and garnacho against set rest defenses are championship level at best

All the Sanchez dick riding in this sub, but I was vilified for pointing out the inevitability of his generational stinkers that will cost us games. He’s proven it time and time again.

People didn’t like that.

But Maguire has loads of experience and a leader who was criticized unfairly at times.

He could have improved us so much defensively and would have covered our weaknesses in air and leadership.

Hubris out of the way, let’s have a serious talk chaps:

Firstly, let’s break down yesterday:

Positives:

1. The back four looked solid. Reece is just magnificent we know that, but Trevs performance was very mature and I’m so proud of him this season. Sarr looked ok, not out of place and a clear improvement on Badiashile and Tosin – neither of whom deserve to wear the shirt. Hato going forward was great actually. 

2. JP had a decent game up front. He won knockdowns well and recycled possession. 

3. We reacted well in the first half to adversity.

Now let’s get into the negatives:

For the maybe 3rd time in 3 weeks we only played well for 30 mins max. We created absolutely nothing going forward and looked so naive on set pieces. Enzo was anonymous (again) gave us nothing all match. Palmer was negated and really given a role that I didn’t understand (who was he actually supposed to be in service of when JP was coming so deep?). 

Neto……proved me wrong and everyone else right. He is a player who let’s himself down: if he can’t cut inside on the right he’s just going to pass backwards. Yesterday like 3 times he should have gone to the byline after beating his man, but he can’t do it. And that red card…I can’t defend it. Luckily we have Estevão for next season ill say no more.

Our midfield was porous and it seemed like they were able to cut through at ease*. We’re just so easy to play against. There were times where they just bypassed us by going long and we make it so easy for teams to hit us in transition. Caicedo is in poor form. He has been for a while now. Santos is busy but doing not much of anything anymore. 

Robert Sánchez is who he has always been. That opening 20 mins was sending my head to Jupiter. He has 2 jobs. Kick the ball to men wearing blue, keep the ball out of the net. He failed both yesterday under no pressure whatsoever. Those mistouches and poor distribution caused so much chaos and insecurities for the back line he doesn’t deserve to play for us ever again. But he will because our owners are so arrogant they just can’t admit they’ve made a mistake. 

This was just another instance of us barely turning up and giving nothing of value. If it wasn’t for the corner we’d have made nothing of this game. Arsenal were TERRIBLE yesterday but man they were magnitudes better than us. Say nothing about their squad:

Our bench was abysmal. Where has the money gone? Why are we so physically unable to compete? Where is the technical quality in this team? The energy? Gyokeres v JP….im sorry but there’s no comparison. Our number 9 is just acceptable he’s not driving us forwards or causing mayhem he’s just doing the bare minimum in big games.

Rosenior has shown time and time again he’s incapable of changing games once a manager has figured out the plan. At the beginning we were scraping wins, but now we’re just so far off. And its terrifying in the scope of cl qualification:

We are in a very dangerous position now. 8 points out of 15 in the league. Our last two wins came against west ham (18th and a last minute winner in a game we didn’t deserve to win) and Wolves (20th).

Since Rosenior has come in we have seen a consistent slide in performances and results. Everyone bar Aston villa in the top 5 are winning consistently now. Villa going into Wednesday have a 6 point buffer on us and a better goal difference.

BlueCo did the right thing at the wrong time and for the wrong reasons by getting rid of Maresca. I’m happy he’s gone.

But fuck me: they’ve destroyed us by installing someone who just isn’t ready for the job. They’ve exposed him which just isn’t fair. He’ll take the blame but this whole scenario STINKS.

Look at our next 5 fixtures: where are the wins coming from boys? Were not chasing villa we’re actually now at risk of being brought into the scrap with Everton etc. That’s how bad our form has been for the past 2 months.
