Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has enjoyed a phenomenal start to his current tenure at Old Trafford, and Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on him being appointed on a permanent basis.
Carrick was brought to Old Trafford back in January to replace Ruben Amorim, with the former United midfielder signing a deal until the end of the season.
After an excellent start, Carrick might be hoping to be offered the permanent role, with the Red Devils unbeaten in their opening seven matches, winning six of them.
Carrick is certainly doing his chances no harm, but INEOS will be working on potential targets in case things turn sour under the former Middlesbrough boss.
United have now climbed up to third place in the Premier League table, and considering Carrick’s main target will have been to finish in the Champions League spots, INEOS must be considering a permanent appointment.
Michael Carrick Manager Update at Man Utd

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano has shared an update on how United feel about Carrick at Old Trafford. The respected reporter claims that the feeling around Carrick is ‘increasingly positive’, and United feel that he could stay as permanent manager.
“I can tell you that week after week after week, the feeling around Carrick is increasingly positive. It doesn’t mean that anything has been decided in terms of the future, in terms of permanent manager for Manchester United in summer 2026, there is still plenty of time. It’s still early, but Manchester United, and when I say Manchester United, it is about the owners, the co-owners, the management and also the team, because the atmosphere in the dressing room is excellent. The players are very happy with Michael Carrick. All people in Manchester United have a feeling that Michael Carrick can have chances to stay as Manchester United permanent manager.”
It’s clear that the United squad are buying into Carrick’s ideas, and they’ve had plenty of early success, so it’s no surprise that he is increasing his chances of landing the job on a permanent basis.

Man Utd Need to Take Time With Decision

There’s no hiding from the fact that it’s been a phenomenal few weeks for United under Carrick, and INEOS will be delighted with the progress they’ve made so far.
Despite that, United need to be careful not to make a decision too quickly. Carrick was willing to sign a deal as an interim manager, so he’ll likely be in no rush to hear a decision on a permanent appointment.
Things could turn sour quickly, as we’ve seen at United in the past, so delaying any decision until the end of the campaign would be a smart move, but it does feel like Carrick has a strong chance of getting the job.
