Manchester United’s Luke Shaw leaves the field against Crystal Palace
Luke Shaw was forced to leave the pitch halfway through the first half of Manchester United’s match against Crystal Palace on Sunday, potentially giving Michael Carrick an injury headache for Wednesday’s clash with Newcastle.
Despite a troublesome injury history since his transfer to Old Trafford in 2014, Shaw has managed to remain injury-free this season.
The left-back appeared to be clutching his foot as he received attention from a medical team member. Earlier, Shaw had been struck on the foot by Palace full-back Daniel Muñoz, but it remains uncertain whether this incident led to his substitution.

Shaw was playing his 27th match of the season for Man United. The England international was substituted by Noussair Mazraoui with Man United leading 1-0 thanks to Maxence Lacroix’s early goal, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Leny Yoro was largely blamed for the visitors’ opening goal as he lost his man, allowing Lacroix to score with a header.
Michael Carrick will provide an update on Shaw’s injury during his post-match press conference. Shaw was seen shaking his head as he exited the field.
Due to a lack of European football and underperformance in both domestic cup competitions, Man United’s fixture schedule is not as packed as usual.
Wednesday’s match against Newcastle is followed by an 11-day break before they host Aston Villa, so Carrick will hope the extended break between games allows Shaw time to recover and avoid missing too many matches.
