Federico GattiFederico Gatti

Earlier this month, Sport Witness covered interest from Nottingham Forest in Juventus’ Federico Gatti. At that point, West Ham were also mentioned as a suitor and Tottenham can also be in the fray for the Italian.

Gatti returned to action for Juve some weeks after a long-term injury. Since then, he has started once in Serie A. Due to Bremer’s injury problems, he also started both the matches against Galatasaray in the Champions League.

Despite his regular usage, Gatti’s future at the Bianconeri remains uncertain.

Today, TuttoSport make it clear that Tottenham and Nottingham Forest are possible destinations.

Gatti to Tottenham depends on Tudor

The Turin newspaper report that the 27-year-old is actually struggling at the Old Lady. As a result, he is one of the candidates to depart in the summer.

There is interest from AS Roma and AC Milan. Beyond that, teams in the Premier League also like the ex-Frosinone player.

Tottenham’s interest in him can grow if Igor Tudor stays beyond the season. Currently, Spurs have only handed the Croatian a short-term deal but he did use Gatti regularly during his time at Juventus.

Nottingham Forest’s interest also gets a mention. A move from Vitor Pereira’s side will hinge on whether they avoid relegation or not. Only that will make the Midlands club a decent option for the defender.

Gatti has obvious limitations

While Gatti has become a regular squad player for Juve, his weaknesses have been obvious.

The Italy international is a pure defender and usually struggles to be expressive on the ball. This makes him more suited to a counter-attacking setup, where he can use his ground defending and aerial ability.

Tottenham and Nottingham Forest will have to keep that in mind. His current contract in Turin runs out in the summer of 2030, which might make a move complicated. That is why the two clubs can find better options in the market than the 27-year-old.
