Leeds United boss Daniel Farke believes Ethan Ampadu and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are amongst the best in the Premier League.

Daniel Farke’s side should be fancying the chances of beating anyone under the lights in West Yorkshire. In turn, the Leeds boss has backed his players.

Ethan Ampadu’s form of late has been exemplary for Leeds as captain. Despite us coming away from Aston Villa with just a draw, the skipper was named in Alan Shearer’s Team of the Week. Therefore, he demonstrated his standout quality for the Whites.
I’ve been refreshing my TikTok notifications to be flooded with Premier League fans slating Ampadu, relative to other midfielders. But, it seems as though the gaffer agrees with my view that there aren’t many better defensive midfielders in the division right now.
“Maturing each and every day, personality and leadership is top class,” Farke said of his captain, per the YEP. “On the pitch, he’s evolved a lot.
“Give us the defensive stability and awareness but also solid passing choices. More careful when he takes more risks to play forward. Gained lots of confidence, plays with more belief because he feels he can compete in the top level.
“An extraordinary player on this level and will develop further on. Been one of the best players in his position in the league.”

All eyes, meanwhile, will be on how Ampadu and the rest of our defence try to stop Erling Haaland from firing Manchester City within two points of Arsenal, albeit temporarily.
The Norwegian is unsurprisingly the runaway top scorer in the league. He’s been helped to the top of the charts by Pep Guardiola.
Farke, though, humorously quipped that his opposite number Dominic Calvert-Lewin is up there in terms of quality too.
“Pep always evolves and develops, always ahead of the curve. Once everyone else adapts he changes again. Influenced and inspired the game. He is simply the best,” Farke said of Guardiola.
“Has probably the best striker in the world in Erling Haaland and knows how to use him – the only one that comes close is Dominic Calvert-Lewin of course. Have to make sure he is not set up in a perfect position to use his skills. But others can score so many goals, not just Erling Haaland.”

Ampadu and Calvert-Lewin are just two players of the full XI that we need to have a standout performance here.
Man City are still in the title race and will be looking to put pressure on Arsenal with a win at Elland Road. Doing so for them would be a statement of intent.
While we’re sitting 15th, Guardiola and almost every neutral is now well aware of the quality we can show in these sorts of games.
