After a lethargic display in possession in Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Benfica to advance to the last-16 of the Champions League, Richie Sadlier and Stephen Kelly on the RTÉ Soccer panel discuss Trent Alexander-Arnold’s qualities and whether his defensive deficiencies may become more acute as he struggles to get the offensive part of his game to the level he enjoyed in a Liverpool jersey.

  1. Stephen Kelly knows what he's talking about, an excellent player. Richie Sadlier is a one-cap wonder, Championship/League 1 level gobsh**e. Sadlier is an absolute dose, he hasn't a clue.

  2. Trent is one of most talked about footballer in world. Madrid knew what they were signing beforehand, a player with no defensive brain or awareness.
Football today though is different from 20 years ago, in that players are played in different systems or positions.
Either way ive never seen a headless chicken play football for Madrid until they signed trent.

  3. Pathetic as usual from PL-obsessed RTÉ. Of all the Madrid players the talking heads focus on Trent Alexander-Arnold just because, and for no other reason, he's a former Lpool player. Pathetic, but matching RTÉ's usual standard in its coverage of European or world soccer.

  4. Trent 100% is not the best choice for england.

But real madrid have played with marcelo. He was equally as badnin defending. But i hope he will develope his other skills to make him worth it
