He may not be a very elite manager but Southgate deserves a chance at a top team if Rosenior, Arteta and Carrick have with next to no success.
Southgate got lucky with England. Every time he faced a decent team he lost. His path to the finals was always the easiest.

Southgate's nadir was Croatia. After that he did OK. Capello was worse. Brolly man was terrible. Sven was ordinary. Tuchel looks better than all of them. As Southgate said, he's got 15 good years ahead of himself. Go and enjoy life. Who needs the stress of EPL scrutiny day after day? Stay retired. He owns nothing to anyone.
