It’s the food trend that has taken off massively in the last few years and it seems like Joe Willock is also a big fan of crumbles, as the Newcastle United footballer been spotted queuing up for some at the Quayside Market. And staff working at the time were delighted to serve him.

Going back a few years, it was the Yorkshire Pudding Wrap that was the item that people would queue up to get if there was a stall selling them at events like food festivals, outdoor concerts, The Hoppings or Newcastle Christmas Market. But, while the wraps are still hugely popular, the food item that has become the one everyone is after, as well as going viral on social media, is the crumble pot.

On the opening day of the Christmas Market last year, it took just a few hours of the event being open for a huge line of people to be spotted at the crumble stall and it looks like midfielder Joe is a fan, as he headed to the Cracking Crumbles stand down at the Quayside recently and was immediately recognised by other customers.

Cracking Crumbles have been a regular at the Quayside Market for over a year now, as well as also serving up customers at Durham Market, where foodies have been urged to try their ‘irresistible’ crumbles. Cracking Crumbles have also just been confirmed on the line-up for both Darlington Food & Drink Festival and Bishop Auckland Food Festival and will be back at the Quayside this coming Sunday, March 1.

And don’rt bet against seeing Joe back there for another taste of the action, particularly if he wants a treat to celebrate three points, which Newcastle will be hoping for against Everton at St James’ Park on Saturday. Having been beaten by Manchester City at the Etihad last weekend, Eddie Howe’s mewn will be hoping to get back to winning ways on home turf.
