Even with the possibility of losing Schloterbeck, Nmecha, Adeyemi and Guirassy I imagined a team that would make me more eager to watch one of our games every week, even if it's a weaker one on paper.

It's not even about the formation, I think even with the same fornation the football could look much nicer with different players and maybe a different manager too(I don't mean to say Kovac should be sacked, but just in case he leaves after this season by his own choice).

The funny thing is Anselmino has only made 2 appearances for Strasbourg as a sub at the 90+9' and 90' out of 4 possible games despite being healthy. I'd love if Strasbourg do Chelsea dirty here by not playing him that much so we could get Anselmino back in the summer.

Also I'm willing to admit replacing Kobel with Ortega seems too reactionary, but you can't tell me you wouldn't at least entertain the idea of a keeper who's great with the ball at his feet at this club for once after experiencing Burki and Kobel for so long…

nah I don’t want ortega. Kobel has his bad touches but this season he has been excellent and today was sadly his biggest mistake yet. He will grow from it and come back better. Hes played very good (or markably improved) with the ball on his feet this season and I think it’s more of a decision making problem.

  2. On your GK take, Diant Ramaj whos currently loaned to Heidenheim has a lot of potential to become the next Kobel/Bürki or even Weidenfeller (Hot take tho)

So although i would definetly miss him, i dont think well have to worry about that position for a while

  3. Chronic under-ambition is becoming a hallmark of this club. The psychological damage the bankruptcy caused is still deeply embedded in the club.

  4. I was thinking about this too, I’d rather lose some points but trading it with good attacking game vs securing points with boring no intense game

  5. I would stop coping about Anselmino, he played well for us and has a contract untill 2031 at chelsea, we arent getting him for a reasonable price

In a team that’s starting to really lack quality, getting rid of Kobel is not the answer. He’s one of our best players, and never looked out of place. Tonight was a bad night for the guy, but the defence let him down as much as he did them.

As for attacking football, Kovac has done a good job of steadying the ship. It may not be exactly what we want to watch every week, but philosophies ebb and flow, and it can certainly get A LOT worse. How he’s been able to work with bang average or worse defenders and integrate young players and make them shine really is the Dortmund way

  7. Why Ortega? we Still have Kobel and Ramaj, plus Meyer on the bench. We have no need for another GK. Also i do believe we wont get Anselmino. and why is Charney playing as CM while we still have Nmecha?

  8. So you’re switching the arguably best shot stopper in the league for someone who is better with his feet but way worse in his core job.

Then you’re trying to get Anselmino back (which I understand), but in the end you’re paying for a talented young CD – which we have with Mane and Reggiani. I’m not saying that Anselmino would be nice to get back – but I question if it’s necessary, as long as we get a decent replacement for Schlotterbeck.

Then you put three big risks in your center: an 18 year old talent, Sancho who (while I love him and would want him back, too) is unreliable (could work, could not) and Chucky who feels better if he is dead center (and one can see it, whenever he’s not) and only an offensive option, which means you risk to lose the defensive stability in the center (I love Chucky, but in this position we need a better defensive player at his side. But at one of the 10s with a narrow center focus, he’s probably my favourite, too – if he can stabilise his form)

Then Karouani, who only played in the Eredivise in his career – and these players famously need time to adjust to one of the big 5 leagues and are therefore another risk.

And lastly Lucumi who, based on his profile at Fotmob, is very much a hit and miss player and too old to not work from the start (after an adjustment period). But overall the player I agree with most

TLDR: while I have nothing against your choice of players for the squad – but as a starting 11? Nope, just not working

Dortmund buys talents, gets them play time in the league and the CL and then sells to england.

Idk why they stopped doing that.

Buy a jameican from the danish league, a scandinavian striker, a candadian winger, all never heard of and see what happens.
Worst case: 4th place, best case: real shot at a title.

Leipzig, Stuttgart and Leverkusen all do this. There is talent for cheap if you do it right. Chema Andres, Diomonde, Ben Segir, Maza. Buying Prem players that didnt make it isnt the solution.
