Marco Silva has confirmed that Fulham winger Kevin is set to miss several weeks with a foot injury that may require surgery.

The Brazilian hobbled off in some pain during the Whites’ 3-1 win at Sunderland on Saturday.

Head coach Silva described the injury as “serious” ahead of the home match against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

“About Kevin, as the feeling was after the game, it looked serious, and he’s going to be out,” he said.

“It’s the fifth metatarsal and he’s going to be out. Soon you are going to have more feedback from our medical staff.”

Silva confirmed that they will find out on Monday if the 23-year-old requires surgery.

It comes at an unfortunate time for Fulham, as he was just starting to find some consistency and form in recent weeks after a slow start to life in west London after his £35m move from Shakhtar Donetsk.

The forward was beginning to justify his £35m transfer fee – a club record – with his stunning strike at Old Trafford being the standout moment among some solid performances.

“It’s a big blow for us, definitely,” Silva said.“It’s a big blow for us, and for him personally, because slowly we started to see the reason why we signed him,” said Silva.

“We showed the trust in him. Even the game against Sunderland, that 40 minutes that he played, he probably was one of the best players on the pitch during that period.”

In more positive news, midfielder Sasa Lukic and forward Samuel Chukwueze are back in contention to play on the weekend after short spells out of the side through injury – the former having missed the last few games, the latter just one.
