All but relegated Wolves have the chance to salvage something from this wretched season with a positive result against rivals Aston Villa on Friday night, writes JOE CITRONE.
Manager Rob Edwards will have been tearing his hair out after his side’s last outing, where they missed a penalty and had a player sent off (the second booking for kicking the ball away), in a late defeat to Crystal Palace.
I guess that just sums up this terrible season for Wolves, where Edwards’ side are still looking to avoid becoming the worst side in Premier League history, with another two points needed from their last 10 games to exceed Derby County’s record-low haul in 2007-2008.
Although this season will always be one to forget for Wolves, a victory over rivals Aston Villa on Friday night would at least give them something positive to take away from a campaign that is destined to result in relegation to the Championship.

Villa have been on a sticky patch in recent weeks, with only one win to speak of in their last five matches in all competitions.
In their most recent outing, Villa managed to scrape a 1-1 draw at home to Leeds United thanks to a late equaliser from January signing Tammy Abraham, but Unai Emery will be hoping his side can get back to winning ways on Friday night.
Despite Villa’s recent struggles, they still possess significantly more quality than Wolves. If they perform to their full potential, they should have little trouble securing all three points.
