We look at the players and clubs who have covered the longest distances on the pitch in 2025/26 so far
Football writer Adrian Clarke looks at the players and clubs who have ran the most in the 2025/26 Premier League season so far.
Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi has run the greatest distance of all Premier League players in 2025/26 so far, with a total of 299.8 kilometres.
The Spaniard is less than one kilometre ahead of Nottingham Forest‘s Elliot Anderson, while Aston Villa‘s Morgan Rogers and Everton‘s James Garner are the only other two players who have covered more than 290km to date.
Seven of the top 10 are central midfielders or No 10s, with a pair of left-backs, AFC Bournemouth‘s Adrien Truffert and Crystal Palace‘s Tyrick Mitchell, and wide forward Jarrod Bowen of West Ham United making up the group.
Interestingly, four of the top 10 — Anderson, Rogers, Bowen and Arsenal‘s Declan Rice — were all selected in Thomas Tuchel’s most recent England squad.

Which players run the furthest per 90 minutes?
Understandably, those with the most game-time have run the longest distances, but when you study the data on a per 90-minute basis, the top 10 is completely different.
From players who have made a minimum 15 starts, it is Phil Foden who tops the rankings with an average distance of 12.32km covered each game.
He is one of four Manchester City players who feature highly, joined by Bernardo Silva (third), Nico Gonzalez (sixth) and Tijjani Reijnders (ninth).
Just five individuals average at least 12km per 90, with Burnley’s Portuguese midfielder Florentino being ranked the next highest after Foden with 12.21km.

Who has run the furthest in a single Premier League match?
Bruno Guimaraes didn’t just score in Newcastle United’s thrilling 4-3 win at home to Leeds United on 7 January – he also covered an extraordinary 13.24km during that classic Premier League game.
It was the furthest anyone has run in a top-flight game so far in 2025/26.
Pascal Gross is the only other player to break the 13km barrier, and the evergreen 34-year-old did so when facing Man City in a 1-1 draw on the same evening when Guimaraes produced his season-leading distance.
It also came in Gross’ first start since re-joining Brighton & Hove Albion from German side Borussia Dortmund.
Another vastly experienced player, Man City’s 31-year-old midfielder Silva, has produced four of the top 10 distances covered in a single match during this campaign.

That is testament to the Portugal international’s incredible fitness, consistency and stamina.
In a sign that perhaps indicates players’ fitness levels rise the longer the season goes on, it is worth noting that six of the leading nine distances have been registered since Matchweek 20 on 3/4 January, when the second half of the campaign began.
Which teams cover the most ground?
The Premier League’s current top two teams, Arsenal and Man City, are also two of the three sides who have run the furthest this season.
They both ran over 121km apiece when drawing 1-1 at Emirates Stadium last September, which was way above their already impressive match averages of 115.47km (Man City) and 114.28km (Arsenal).
Daniel Farke’s Leeds, a side who consistently play with great intensity, are ranked second for average distance run per match (114.75km). The 123.28km they ran against Newcastle on 7 January is the most we have seen in a single match by any team this season.
After 27 matches, it is Chelsea who cover the least the amount of ground per match at 105.70km, almost 10km short of Man City’s average.
