It’s an unfair decision in terms of football. They only show a still image of the scene, which of course makes it look like he’s kicking the striker, but when you’re trying to clear the ball to prevent a goal in that situation, you can go in like that.
The ball was cleared well, and the striker basically jumps into his foot, which was neither too high nor directed at the opponent with any intent.
It was a challenge and should have been a corner, and he could have blown the whistle immediately — but instead he gets a damn still image, a crappy shot out of many, making it look like it was serious foul play.
It annoys me. Aside from the fact that Kobel just has to smash the ball into the stands and then we go through in extra time… why are there multiple angles everywhere, but sometimes only one in slow motion that completely distorts everything?
Just like with the red card against Svensson. These are all such idiots ruining football. Atalanta deserved to go through based on the second leg, I would have accepted that — but not with this fucking VAR.

The actual perspective where Bens is standing is somewhere between those two lines. Then copy/paste those lines (to keep the angles) and drag them to the play. It’s definitely a high kick. It’s not a high boot offense. It would’ve been a foul as well if it was the opponent’s foot. Striker gets the first touch, bense is studs up and hits the ball and the player both. Yellow and pen is correct here.
