Manchester United have been linked with Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson as they seek to bolster their midfield next summer.

Anderson has been one of the standout players in the Premier League this season and has established himself as a regular in the England squad.

Described as a ‘complete midfielder‘ by manager Thomas Tuchel, he leads the league for progressive passes completed, duels won, touches, progressive actions and fouls suffered.

Manchester City are also linked with Anderson as a possible replacement for Rodri. The latter is on the radar of Spanish rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Speaking ahead of Forest’s home clash with Fenerbahce in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, Anderson said he is unbothered by transfer speculation.

He said (via the BBC): “I’m just focusing on my football at the moment, performing and trying to give everything for Nottingham Forest. So that’s all that’s on my mind.”

The midfielder’s statement would be good news for Forest fans, who are hoping they retain their top-flight status. The club are just two points clear of the relegation zone.

That said, Anderson is likely to leave the Forest next summer, regardless of whether they survive relegation.

Man United may need to secure Champions League qualification to win the signature of the 23-year-old, given City’s interest.

United have been also been linked with Anderson’s Forest team-mates Ibrahim Sangare and Morgan Gibbs-White.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has played down the links with Sangare, while it remains to be seen whether United will pursuit a move for Gibbs-White.
