Aston Villa’s stance on selling Morgan Rogers seems to be softening, which is good news for Chelsea.
Rogers is a long-term target for Chelsea and is one of the best attacking players in the Premier League.
Earlier this month, Fabrizio Romano reported that Chelsea continue to monitor Rogers ahead of the summer transfer window.

Villa have been very reluctant to sell the attacking midfielder, but that could soon change. However, a change in stance will still not make this a straightforward transfer for Chelsea.

According to GiveMeSport, Villa could sell Rogers this summer despite him only signing a new contract towards the end of last year.
The same outlet claims that the Villans could demand £100m or even more for the Englishman, which Chelsea can afford.
The Blues paid £107m to sign Enzo Fernandez from Benfica back in 2023 and another £115m to buy Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion only months later.
However, it could be very hard to convince Rogers to join them if they are not in the Champions League.
There is a good chance that Villa qualify for the competition, while some of Chelsea’s other rivals who are also thought to be interested in Rogers could also do the same thing.

Why would Rogers give up Champions League football at Villa Park or another Premier League ground for the Europa League anthem?
Ultimately, Chelsea’s chances of signing Rogers could come down to whether they finish in the top five, which could once again be enough to get into Europe’s elite competition. However, the signs are not good for Liam Rosenior’s men.
Opta has predicted Chelsea to finish outside the top five, below Villa, Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal.
Rogers is having another bright campaign in the Premier League, scoring eight goals and providing five assists in 27 outings. Whoever gets the England international if he does leave Villa Park will be acquiring a very gifted attacker.
