Arsenal fans compare Marli Salmon to William Saliba
Arsenal fans have been raving about Marli Salmon’s latest performance for Arsenal under-21s against Reading, as the captain seriously impressed.
The 16-year-old captained the team to a 4-1 win in the Premier League 2, as the Gunners have now won three in a row when he has featured.
Along with Dowman, he looks like the latest talent to emerge from the Hale End conveyor belt and someone Arteta has been keen to use.
Now, after completing 90 minutes for the Gunners, the fans have been comparing him to William Saliba and believe he will eventually replace the French defender.
One fan said: “Marli Salmon is a supreme talent. He starts every game at the under-21 level and is always a standout at just 16 years of age.
Does remind me a lot of Saliba in terms of how calm he is and how he glides around the pitch as well.”
“We have William Saliba and two mini Salibas at Arsenal in Mosquera and Marli Salmon. Truly blessed,” added another.
Who will have a better career: Marli Salmon or Ayden Heaven?
A third fan stated: “You were right when you said he’s the Saliba long-term replacement. I see so much of Saliba in Salmon, it’s crazy.”
Finally, another added: “The future is bright… Mosquera and Salmon as the natural succession line, in case Saliba and/or Gabriel were to move in the midterm future.”
The great news for Salmon is that he has Gabriel Magalhaes and Saliba as mentors at Arsenal, which will be so great for his development.
Two of the best defenders in the world should be able to show him the ropes and give him all the support he needs to fulfill his huge potential.
