Barcelona could sign Manchester City winger Savinho instead of Marcus Rashford in the summer transfer window, according to reports in Spain. Rashford joined Barca on loan from Manchester United ahead of the 2025/26 season and has made a huge impact with 10 goals and 13 assists from 34 appearances.
Hansi Flick is a big fan of the 28-year-old but opted against bringing him off the bench in the La Liga clash against Levante with Barcelona in complete control. The presence of Lamine Yamal and Raphinha also does not guarantee him minutes if both are fit.
Though the Spanish giants can activate the buy-option in his loan for £26million, his future has not yet been decided with it appearing as though Barcelona are scouring the market for other options. According to El Nacional, Flick knows the type of winger he wants to recruit, with Savinho’s name coming up.
Their report states that he is considered to be a ‘market opportunity’ for Barcelona given his lack of minutes at Etihad Stadium. Flick is said to be a huge fan of several qualities Savinho, who is valued at roughly £40million, possesses and is of the understanding they will work well in Spain.

They have also claimed that because of this Flick believes the 21-year-old could be more useful than Rashford at Barcelona. It has been a challenging season for Savinho thus far, with injuries and competition for places seeing him play just 535 minutes of Premier League football.
Tottenham showed a strong interest in the Brazilian this past summer with the player also thought to be keen on a move in order for more regular game time in a World Cup year.
If Barcelona do indeed choose to pursue Savinho or any other winger over Rashford, a return to Old Trafford could be on the cards. Interim head coach Michael Carrick is said to want to re-integrate him if he gets the permanent job.
Speaking on Rashford recently, he said: “It’s difficult to say, because circumstances at certain times that I have not been involved in.
“It’s difficult for me to comment really. I think the fact he’s come through the academy and had such a big impact here is a positive, and as a club, he’s had some really big moments and good moments.
“And I’ve shared some with him in the past. So, football throws up certain things, and obviously certain players. You can’t stay here forever, and things happen, that’s how it is.”

The former United midfielder has had a great start to his spell in temporary charge but there is no guarantee he is at the club next season.
Diego Simeone, Oliver Glasner, Thomas Tuchel, Luis Enrique and Zinedine Zidane have all been mooted as potential options to be the permanent successor to Ruben Amorim.
He departed United back in early January after a falling out behind-the-scenes and some poor results. Rashford last played under Amorim in December 2024 before then heading out on loan to Aston Villa.
The Portuguese also froze Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund, Antony, Andre Onana and Tyrell Malacia out of his plans.
