Jason Powell, 31 and of Cheshire Drive in Bournemouth, continued to download indecent images and expose himself in public after his arrest.

Prosecutor, Ben Thompson, told Bournemouth Crown Court the defendant was caught uploading indecent pictures of children on Kik while living at his mother’s home on May 16, 2024.

On July 9, 2024, police arrested Powell and seized two phones and SD cards.

Officers found 105 videos and four images of the worst kind of child abuse, namely category A, downloaded between August 19, 2024 and July 8, 2024.

The category A videos alone totalled around three and a half hours, and included the rape of a four-year-old girl.

Police also found 55 videos and seven images of category B as well as 20 videos and 126 images of category C.

Officers also discovered a chat on Telegram where the defendant was describing a fantasy of a schoolgirl being raped.

In his police interview Powell said he was using the social media to find girls.

A sexual risk order, allowing police to monitor his devices, was made in August 2024 but less than a month later it flagged Powell downloading indecent images.

He was arrested again on September 12, 2024, and officers found 93 AI generated images of child abuse and one category C indecent photo.

In October, 2024, he also admitted to exposing himself in public.

Mitigating, Robert Gray, said the defendant has accepted responsibility and expressed remorse.

He said Powell is determined to stay out of trouble and has been complying with probation.

Mr Gray said the defendant told police he wanted a girlfriend and was socially isolated in life.

The court heard he now has a girlfriend who supported him in court with his mother.

Both women were seen weeping in court during his sentence.

Powell pleaded guilty to four counts of making indecent photos of children and possession of prohibited images.

Judge Susan Evans KC said: “Little children, many who are very young, are abused in the most horrific manner, something they will not get over and carry lifelong trauma.

“It is because of people like you who want to pay for this appalling abuse.

“It is because of people like you that they suffer.”

She added that Powell “richly deserves immediate custody” but he would receive more rehabilitation treatment in the community which will better protect the public.

Powell was handed a 15-month sentence suspended for two years.

He must complete 10 rehabilitation activity requirement days, 26 days of a programme, 100 hours of unpaid work and pay £170 in prosecution costs.

Powell will also be subject to the sex offenders register and a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years.
