Arsenal sit five points clear of Manchester City in the Premier League title race but Jamie Carragher believes City might hold a small advantage.

City saw off Newcastle at the weekend while Arsenal dismantled Spurs.

The two teams meet in the Carabao Cup final while there’s also a crunch tie at The Etihad in mid-April.

Before that, the two teams need to try and keep their momentum and it is this element of the season where Carragher feels City hold the advantage.

Jamie Carragher says Manchester City have better fixtures than Arsenal

That five point gap that Arsenal hold is crucial at the minute but it could soon change as well, with City holding an important game in hand.

Indeed, according to Jamie Carragher, it is the fixtures coming that play into Man City’s hands.

“It does feel a bit like that. I think over the next couple of weeks I would say Man City’s fixtures are slightly more favourable. Arsenal’s gap is five points but in reality, it’s probably two with the game in hand and I can see that closing before they play each other,” Carragher said ahead of Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.

“Long way to go. We aren’t quite into March yet and I think Sir Alex Ferguson, a man who knows a title run in better than anyone, always spoke about dropping points in March and April and how you can’t rectify that as there’s not enough time.”

Commenting further on how many points it might take to win the title, Carragher made his prediction.

“I think it might be around the mid 80s. What I did see before the weekend was that Arsenal were the lowest points that a title winner had had up to now since Leicester. So that tells you it might not be as high as we’ve seen in the past. But it doesn’t matter, you just win the league,” he added.

“I still think Arsenal are the best team and the best squad. When I see Arsenal win compared to when I see City, it almost feels like it’s City just getting the job done. Arsenal have been the best team but, it doesn’t matter what I say it’s just got to get done hasn’t it!”

Arsenal and Man City’s next five Premier League fixtures

Quite amazingly, the Man City and Arsenal league clash is among the next five games for Arsenal, despite it not being until the 18th April.

Arsenal face a big London derby against Chelsea next week, and then have a quick turnaround to take on Brighton.

😂 Who is the biggest wind-up merchant in the Arsenal squad? Surely it has to be Gabriel Magalhaes?

Everton visit The Emirates before the cup final and then Arsenal are not in action until the 11th April when they welcome Bournemouth. After that, it’s all eyes on City.

For City, it looks easier on paper as Carragher says. Leeds are next, with Nottingham Forest and West Ham following. The cup final then separates a clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, before it’s time to take on the Gunners.

Clearly, Chelsea could have a big say on title proceedings here and come the cup final, we will have a very clear view of how the land is laying.
