Wolverhampton Wanderers have now entered the race to sign a “phenomenal” Premier League player, who has six wins to his name at Molineux.
Wolves keen to strengthen defence this summer
Wolves have struggled from a defensive point of view all season, conceding 51 goals in the Premier League, and their woes continued on Sunday afternoon, with Ladislav Krejci being shown a red card in the 1-0 defeat against Crystal Palace.
Things could have been very different, if it weren’t for Tolu Arokodare being denied from the penalty spot by Dean Henderson in the first half, but it wasn’t to be for the Old Gold, who remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table.
Since Rob Edwards‘ arrival, there has been some cause for optimism, drawing 2-2 against league leaders Arsenal last Wednesday, but relegation remains near-certain, and it is clear some reinforcements will be needed in the summer transfer window.
According to a report from Caught Offside, Wolves have now set their sights on what seems like an ambitious transfer target, joining the race for Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson, who will be available on a free transfer if he doesn’t sign a new contract before the summer.
However, there is set to be competition for the full-back’s signature from some big clubs, with the likes of Aston Villa, Celtic, Atletico Madrid and Crystal Palace also named as potential suitors.
The Reds aren’t forcing Robertson out the door, but they are open to his departure, with the 31-year-old falling down the pecking order this season, and often being benched by Arne Slot in favour of Milos Kerkez.
“Phenomenal” Robertson would be coup for Wolves
In truth, with Wolves staring down the barrel of relegation, it seems unlikely they will be able to compete for the signature of a player who is so experienced at the top level, picking up 90 caps for Scotland and making 64 appearances in the Champions League.

They’re convinced he’d slot right in.
The Scot is one of Liverpool’s longest-serving players, making 367 appearances since arriving from Hull City in 2017, during which time he has been described as a “phenomenal” servant and a club “legend” by content creator Sajad Iqbal.
With the Glasgow-born defender being a key part of Jurgen Klopp’s all-conquering side, he has an excellent record against Wolves, winning 13, drawing two and losing only one of 16 matches, and six of those victories came at Molineux.
Robertson, who pockets £160k-a-week at Anfield, could be a fantastic addition to Edwards’ squad, but it is difficult to envisage him dropping to the Championship, given that he is still only 31, and has attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs.
