Aarón EscandellOviedo, Spain – 09 25 2025: Aaron Escandell seen during LaLiga EA SPORTS game between teams of Real Oviedo and FC Barcelona

West Ham United have Real Oviedo goalkeeper Aarón Escandell on their transfer agenda.

That’s what Cuore Toro, a website specialising its coverage on Torino, are now reporting.

The outlet mentions West Ham when discussing the Serie A side’s desire to sign the 30-year-old.

Escandell attracting West Ham and Torino interest

He arrived at the Spanish club on a free transfer in July 2024 and signed a three-year contract.

Escandell kept 16 clean sheets and conceded 44 goals from 45 matches in the Segunda División last season and played a key role in Real Oviedo’s promotion to the top flight. The stopper has kept six clean sheets and conceded 36 goals from 23 La Liga matches this season.

The Spaniard’s performances have seen a few clubs, including Nuno Espírito Santo’s side and Torino, take notice.

Alberto Paleari has displaced Franco Israel as the Turin club’s first-choice goalkeeper since October. Despite this, Torino are still looking for a new stopper and identified Escandell as an ideal target.

His profile and experience make him appealing to Torino director Gianluca Petrachi, who believes the Real Oviedo player can adapt well in Serie A.

This would have seen the Italian club start informal talks with both the La Liga side and the player’s entourage.

The Hammers are also in the picture to sign Escandell in the summer.

Mads Hermansen joined the London club from Leicester City last summer and started the season as their No.1. He lost his place to Alphonse Areola in September before regaining his place in West Ham’s XI earlier this month.

Łukasz Fabiański has been the third choice but has been on the sidelines with an injury since September. His contract expires in June and could leave as a free agent. Therefore, it would make sense for West Ham to look for a new stopper.

According to Cuore Toro, the Premier League side are looking at Escandell. Torino worry West Ham’s financial power could ‘push the player to choose London over Turin’.

Whether there’s genuine interest or if West Ham are used to put pressure on Torino needs to be seen.
