Rio Ngumoha impressed off the bench during Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

It wasn’t an excellent display from the Reds overall, but a late Alexis Mac Allister effort was enough to hand the away side all three points.

Sunday’s victory was just the second time Liverpool have beaten Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in their last 16 league meetings.

Change my mind Rio Ngumoha was Liverpool’s star man despite barely playing vs Forest

Can anyone take the MOM award off him? Have your say!

Mac Allister obviously made the headlines for his winner, but the performance of Rio Ngumoha also had people talking.

Harvey Elliott’s message to Rio Ngumoha after Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool

Jamie Carragher wants Ngumoha to start more matches, saying post-match that he did more than Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo.

Now, the teenager has received a lot of praise on his official Instagram page post-match.

Ngumoha shared a photo of himself from the Forest game with the caption, ‘3 points’.

A number of notable names have since sent messages to the youngster in the comment section, including Liverpool-linked Mateus Mane.

Harvey Elliott wrote: “Well done lil bro! Changed it!”, Alexis Mac Allister commented a clapping emoji, Fabrizio Romano wrote: “Top” and Mateus Mane stated: “Coldest!”

Hugo Ekitike, Virgil van Dijk and Curtis Jones were among the Liverpool players to like the post.

Surely there’s no way back to Salah’s best from here?

A new record drought in the Premier League…

Following the clash, Slot also commented on the teenager when speaking live to Sky Sports News.

He said: “The first goal that was disallowed was mainly because of him – and a great cross for Hugo, and normally you would expect that to be a goal. Especially for Hugo as he’s such a good finisher.

“A good action of him and one-v-one. It was what this game needed. Either a set piece or a moment like this. That’s why I brought him on. First off the left, where there was not a lot of involvement. Then off the right, where there was much more involvement.

“He already plays a big part for a 17-year-old. Tell me, wherever in the Premier League a player has had so many minutes. That tells you what kind of a talent he is, and how much we appreciate him.”

Ngumoha is yet to start a Premier League fixture but surely that will change in the coming months if we see more displays similar to his Nottingham Forest cameo.
